DocuFire does not collect, store, or transmit your case data. Everything you document — addresses, owner information, witness statements, photos, breaker panels — stays on your device. We never see it.
The only data that leaves your device is anonymous, non-identifiable diagnostic information used to keep the app stable. No names. No case details. No personal information of any kind.
DocuFire is a local-first application. The following data types are entered by investigators and stored exclusively on-device:

DocuFire uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous, non-identifiable diagnostic data. This helps us identify crashes and improve app stability.
TelemetryDeck is specifically designed for privacy-conscious developers. It does not use cookies, does not track users across apps or websites, and cannot be used to identify any individual. Data collected includes:

DocuFire includes optional AI-powered features. These features are never activated without your explicit permission.
AI Case Analysis (Anthropic). If you choose to run AI Analysis, structured case documentation — including property type and structure details, fire patterns, fuel load data, ignition source information, weather conditions, and your written observations — is sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) for processing. This data is used solely to generate an advisory analysis within the app and is not used by Anthropic to train AI models.
Voice Note Transcription (OpenAI). If you choose to use voice note transcription, audio recordings made within the app are sent to OpenAI (Whisper API) to be converted to text. This audio is used solely for transcription and is not used to train AI models.
Personally identifiable information is automatically stripped before any data is sent. Owner and insured names, full street addresses (only city/state-level location is retained), phone numbers, email addresses, policy and claim numbers, VINs, serial numbers, witness names and contact information, casualty names, and investigator names are never sent. Casualty information is limited to counts only.
Before either AI feature is used for the first time, DocuFire displays a disclosure explaining exactly what data will be sent and to whom, and requires your explicit permission before proceeding. If you decline, you retain full access to all other features of the app. You may withdraw consent for AI Analysis at any time in Settings → AI Configuration.
Anthropic and OpenAI are both contractually and legally bound to handle data submitted via their APIs under their respective enterprise/API data usage policies, which prohibit using API-submitted data for model training. DocuFire subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We never receive, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card numbers, or Apple ID credentials. All billing is handled by Apple under their Privacy Policy.
Because DocuFire stores all case data locally on your device, you are in complete control at all times. To delete your data, simply delete the app from your device. No account deletion request is necessary — no account is created and no case data is stored on our servers.
DocuFire is a professional tool intended for use by licensed fire investigators. It is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from minors.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of DocuFire after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
